Susan Williams Professor: American literature and culture before 1900; women writers, literature and other arts, history of the book. Author of Confounding Images: Photography and Portraiture in Antebellum American Fiction (1997) and of Reclaiming Authorship: Literary Women in America, 1850-1900 (2006). Co-editor of Reciprocal Influences: Literary Production, Distribution, and Consumption in America and of the journal American Periodicals. Recipient of the OSU Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching, the OSU Distinguished Faculty Service Award, and of grants and fellowships from the American Antiquarian Society, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Coca-Cola Critical Difference for Women fund.
