LiteracyStudies@OSU presents Informing Ohio Communities

Informing Communities.
The Knight Commission is a project of the Aspen Institute Communications and Society Program and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Informing Ohio Communities is an Initiative of LiteracyStudies@OSU, with additional support from Moritz College of Law.

The Report was released October 2, 2009. Go to http://www.knightcomm.org/ to download a copy.

The Commission believes we are at a critical juncture in the history of democratic communications and is urging the nation and its local communities to 1) Maximize the availability of relevant and credible information to all Americans and their communities; 2) Strengthen the capacity of individuals to engage with information; and 3) Promote the individual engagement with information and the public life of the community. The goal of the symposium is to foster the process in Ohio in a critical yet constructive way.

Opening Remarks will be made by Harvey J. Graff, Ohio Eminent Scholar in Literacy Studies and Professor of English and History, the Program Director, Literacy Studies. Panel moderators and participants include Brenda Brueggemann, Professor of English, Disability Studies; H. Lewis Ulman, Associate Professor of English, Digital Media Studies; and Amy Shuman, Professor of English and Anthropology
