From Literacy to Literacies: Which Literacies Matter Most?
The GradSem includes students at every stage of study from across the University who meet monthly for lunch and a student-organized program and discussion. The meeting on September 9 will explore the move from literacy to literacies. The term “literacy” describes an array of competencies, from science literacy to finance literacy to emotional literacy. What do these literacies have to do with reading and writing? And what cultural forces determine how, when, and where these specialized literacies matter?Participation in the GradSem is open to all students with an interest in literacy and its study. Contact Michael Harwick.
