Creative Writing Minor

The minor in Creative Writing consists of four undergraduate courses, equivalent to 12 credit hours. The  courses provide students an in-depth study of the craft of creative writing. Students learn skills to create original poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction. Students also greatly enhance their critical reading skills.

Minor Course Requirements

• Two lower-level courses from different genres (poetry, fiction, or creative non-fiction);
• two upper-level courses (from any genre);

Additional Minor Requirements

• No more than two transfer courses may be applied to the Creative Writing minor;
• While a grade of C- will be permitted in courses comprising the Creative Writing minor, the overall grade point average for the minor must be 2.0 or higher;
• Courses taken on a Pass / Non-Pass basis cannot be applied to the English minor

English 4591.01H  Honors Special Topics Seminar in the Study of Creative Writing
English 5662 Literary Publishing (admission requires interview; this course is open to MFA students as well as undergraduates)
